My Son…..Our Brother Has Completed His Journey And Life on Earth. Our Hearts Are Full of Love For this Kind, and Quiet Man Sad for our Loss But Feel Ron’s Peace At Last Born in Seattle Washington to George & Valentina, grew up alongside Sister Sher, his elder, and Sister Marc, his younger… and Duke Luke, our beloved dog. Ron loved the water, Razor clam digging & Salmon fishing on the Pacific Ocean with his Mom, Dad, and Sisters, or out on Puget Sound with a friend on a boat. He loved swimming or cruising Wye Lake in a rowboat, and oyster shucking, along Hoods Canal with his Dad, eating as many oysters as they brought home. He loved to camp and quite literally any adventure that put him outdoors with his family, was enjoyed. Camping at Wye Lake and at the Ocean on the beach, were some of his favorite times. You wouldn’t ever want to hold a contest as to who knew more about dams because, No Contest, he would win! He and the Family had visited every dam in Washington and Oregon. He was also a hell of a pool player, for his Dad’s nickname, could have been “Minnesota Fats” He will be remembered for his Love of Music, beginning with his extraordinary talent and ability of playing the clarinet, then on to guitar and bass guitar. He started up a band from an early age. He had found his element. Like-minded individuals gathered and jammed together through the years, playing mostly classical rock and roll and blues. Later he enjoyed gathering with folks for a bluegrass or folk guitar session. You name it and Ron could play it and would gladly accompany you, while you sang. But the music in his heart & soul that would passionately carry him, for the rest of his life, was the Blues. Oh, how Ron loved the Blues! Ron had a love for animals; domestic & wild animals and the preservation of the environment, state parks, national forest’s, the ocean’s/lakes/& streams, and the wildlife that inhabited these places. He donated generously to those organizations that supported this preservation. Ron’s family started expanding when he joined the United States Navy after graduation from Chief Sealth High School, in 1969. He shared close quarters, good times and the bad times, with fellow shipmates, serving 2 terms in Viet Nam, one aboard the U.S.S. Tutwilla and the second on the U.S.S. John S. McCain, DDG-36 and “These shipmates became his Brothers.” Oh how is Dad was proud of his son, for he himself had been a Navy man, proudly serving in World War II upon the U.S.S. Nevada (which was one of the few ships to make it out of Pearl Harbor)Together Father & Son discussed war stories. In San Diego, while serving in the United States Navy, one of Ron’s shipmates, Peter Schnaubelt, not only lived in San Diego, but Pete’s Dad & Mom, Gene & Vivian, opened their home to the Navy guys, for that “home away from home” feel, where they could also store their motorcycles, while out to sea. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in March 1973, and a short live in Washington State, back to San Diego he moved, to be with his love, Tricia Schnaubelt, and this is where he called home until his passing, shortly after the new 2015 year began. Ron Luke was a family man and there is more family to share with you. On one side, during his child and teen years, he spent time and many a full belly, with his Grandparent’s, from his Mom’s side – Deddie & Babie and his Uncle Boris. On his Dad’s side an abundant number of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, 2nd and 3rd Cousins that he loved and enjoyed spending time with, during the Luke Family Reunions. Although the numbers dwindled down over the years, his first Luke Family Reunion had over 100 family members in attendance. He enjoyed every conversation, every beach walk, each and every poker game, fishing, all the southern hospitality including great home cooked food, and he loved all of his family. When his Dad, George Luke, remarried to Lois he acquired a Step Mom, and step brother Greg, and 3 step sister's; Keri, Paula, and Jan. Ron acquired a Stepdad, Wally Bostick, a step brother Wally Jr., and step sister Diana, when Mom married in 1984. Ron was surrounded by people he loved and that loved him…. Very Much. He really did have a full life that was blessed with Good and Loving Family and Friends. R.I.P. Our Honest, Kind, Gentle, Intelligent, Good Man…. Ron Luke.
